Week 20

Things have been really busy coupled with the fact that I am sometimes lazy. That is my excuse for not putting up the post of Week 20 on time. However, as the saying goes, better late than never, so here it is.

I cannot be more happy with all the beauty around us during spring time. You can see such a contrast in the photos. There are prettier things to capture rather than just snow and bare trees. This week's highlight is this incredible magenta colored flowers outside in our garden. The day I first captured it, it was in a bud form, then a couple of days later I noticed it again and it was in full bloom and looked incredible. Take a look at my last week's photos:

Day 135

Week 19

The highlight of my blog post today is that more than half of the week's photographs were taken from my iPhone rather than my DSLR. It's funny because I usually lug my DSLR around with me but when I want to take a quick photo, I find it easier to take it from my iPhone. I know its not a big deal for some people but its pretty amazing how easily we can take photographs of our everyday life now. It's hard to imagine our kids understanding this concept. Our generation has seen the most rapid and drastic change in technology and life style. TV came out when our parents were young and that was a great invention of that time. We, on the other hand, have witnessed the advent of computers, internet and literally the digital age. I always wonder what would be next big thing altering our lifestyle.

As much as our lives have become better with so much technology, we have to realize how intrusive it is. We heavily rely on technology to do the most minuscule tasks. Then there is the social media, where everyone likes to document every moment of their lives. It definitely has its merits and demerits. It is a personal choice and we have to respect each person for the way they go about it. At the same time, we are blessed to have all these resources such as Google, YouTube and Wikipedia at our disposal. For the adventurous, you can learn and see any place in the world virtually and then go explore it in real. I don't think even 100 years ago people could even imagine these possibilities. I can go on and on about it but I don't want to bore you and I think my son will be up in another 15 minutes so I have to finish writing this post.

Coming back to my weekly adventures. Last week was just amazing. It was Mother's Day over the weekend and we had planned a fun getaway with a group of friends to the White Mountains in New Hampshire. It turned out great and we all had such a memorable time. I believe that Mother's Day, like may other such days, has become a part of our lives fairly recently. Its a marketing ploy and we all fall prey to it. I mean everyday should be Mother's Day because as mothers we work hard all year long, doing things for our kids and families. However, if there is even one day that calls for appreciating those efforts I think we should just roll with it.

Day 127
Went to get our car serviced so we thought we might take a photo in front of the dealership

Day 128
Spring and its endless flowers

Day 129
Echo lake in New Hampshire was the prettiest lake I have ever seen

Day 130
Mother's Day special from Omni Mount Resort in New Hampshire

Day 131
My son roaming the Omni Mount Washington Resort

Day 132
After playgroup library time

Day 133
Tulips o tulips, you make me so happy!

Hope you all had a great Mother's Day weekend and wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead of you. Thank you for checking in on my blog and if you liked it please share it with your friends and family.

Week 18

The air feels warmer, the trees look alive, flowers are blooming everywhere around us and thats how we know that spring is in full swing.  This has been an exceptional week, with beautiful weather everyday. It seems unreal to have such great weather and be out and about after such a long and brutal winter. So grateful to Allah for bestowing upon us this blessing, in addition to innumerable others.

Obviously, considering the fact above, we ditched the library events for the park. I feel this trend is going to continue till the end of summer or how ever long the nice weather lasts.

Our week started with a visit to the grocery store. It is so much fun doing this ritual with Zain now because he can name most of the regular items like milk, eggs, bread, cheese, fruits and veggies. As we go aisle by aisle, I keep asking him what do you want to get and he keeps listing the items. The best thing about this technique is that time goes by really fast and thankfully he doesn't get bored.

The rest of the days we just went to the park to play or attended playgroup. So pretty much everyday there was some outdoor activity. Those of you who have toddlers, already know how much energy these little people have. What I try to do is take Zain out in the morning everyday. This way he gets all his energy out by being active. Then he takes a nice long nap in the afternoon which leaves me with some free time to finish my chores.

The best part of the week as usual is the weekend when we have our family time together. My better half works really hard to provide the leisure lifestyle I have become so accustomed to. I am so very grateful to him in general and Allah in particular for giving me this freedom at this point in my life. Anyway, this week we had decided to keep one day to run our pending errands and spend the other day of the weekend doing something fun. We ended up going to this cute little town of Newburyport just a short drive away from us. We met a friend there for brunch and then spent a couple of hours just walking around the streets. I love old red brick buildings and this was the setting of the downtown of Newburyport. I think its also one of the reasons I love Boston because there are some parts of the city that just scream old time red brick charm. There are no skyscrapers to divert your attention from these quaint old buildings. We had a great time taking in all the shops and what they had to offer. I did a little window shopping but mostly I had a great time taking photographs. This includes taking photos of my boys and the location. I have a couple of photos from this trip as part of my week's photographs:

Day 121

Have a great weekend and considering its the Mother's Day weekend, hope you get to spend it with your mom or another mom you maybe friends with or related to. In any case let this be a celebration of motherhood, which truly is one of the greatest experiences of life itself. Love❤︎ to my mom and mom-in-law who are both great women in their own right.

Hope you enjoyed today's blog. Keep reading and sharing it!
